Volunteering is an amazing way to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. In Suffolk County, there are several awards and recognition programs available to volunteers who go above and beyond in their service. One such program is the Adult Volunteer Recognition Awards at Girl Scouts, which honors volunteers who provide exceptional service. This award is given to an outstanding Red Cross volunteer who follows in the footsteps of Gene Malkis, a dedicated volunteer who leads by example and is an ambassador of the Red Cross to the community. Linda has taken on the role of director of the Rockland County DAT team and has been an incredible ambassador, connecting with partner organizations.
She recently served on the board of directors of the newly created Rockland County VOAD. Kim has worked at 18 DRO, both in person and virtually, since becoming a Red Cross volunteer. He originally joined MIRA USA, a non-profit organization that promotes the social integration of immigrants in the United States. This annual summer program hosts more than 400 children in four-week sessions, but due to COVID-19, it had to be canceled this year. This volunteer has made significant contributions to volunteer management and administration, providing his experience, knowledge, and recommendations that help volunteers accomplish their mission effectively.
He decided to do this so that 26% of Nassau and Suffolk counties could feed people in the event of a major disaster. While working virtually for the district attorney in Camp Wildfires, California, one of the virtual volunteers (who lived in Chicago) called me (his manager in New York) to tell me that a volunteer had heard an elderly woman who had just been discharged from the hospital due to surgery and who had been taken to the ARC collective shelter speak on the ground. In recognition of Davison's personal achievement as founder of the League of Red Cross Societies in 1919, and Mrs. I have participated in international and domestic volunteering most of my adult life to help people in need. In this position, I talk to volunteers who want to deploy in the COVID environment to ensure that their deployment is successful. Youth who are interested in volunteering in their final year should apply before that date. Volunteering is an incredible way to make a difference in your community and beyond.
